| Brief Detail: | The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides nursing and medical services to clients of the family planning clinic. The NP emphasizes health promotion and disease prevention as well as diagnosis and management of disease. The NP obtains a client history and performs a physical exam on clients (male and female) following established guidelines; implements appropriate screening and laboratory testing; educates clients on birth control methods and assists clients with safe and effective method selection. Prescribes and distributes contraceptives and medications to clients according to established guidelines. The NP also provides client counseling on reproductive health and sexuality and refers clients to other agencies and healthcare providers as needed. |
